Modern Quilts: Redesigning Traditions

Now that you’ve tried your hand at Modern Design Using Traditional Elements it’s time to put your new skills and knowledge to use.

The Modern Quilts: Redesigning Traditions exhibit is coming to the Ontario Museum of History & Art, December 1, 2016 – January 22, 2017.

There has been quite a bit of buzz recently about taking traditional quilt block design and “tweaking” it Modern. Sometimes this can be more challenging than freeform innovative piecing. But we have observed Modern and Traditional quilting coming closer together over the past couple of years, so this is the perfect time to look at that evolution. Inclusive rather than exclusive.

There’s still time to enter your take on Modern Traditionalism. Submission deadline is August 15, 2016. You can enter up to two quilts. The quilts do not have to be fully finished by this deadline, but the application must be complete. Download entry form and flyer for more information.
