IEMQG General Meeting
July 1, 2017
Grand Terrace Community Room, Grand Terrace, CA
The meeting was called to order at 2:00 by Treasurer Gayle Bennett (Laura Greene is out of the country!).
Gayle conducted the “five question game” and Rachel McGee won the prize.
Gayle briefly outlined upcoming IEMQG events and announced that the date for the December meeting will be the second Saturday of the month (December 9), and it will be held at the clubhouse at the Mountain Shadows Trailer park in Highland. Gayle also reminded members that the guild needs a Program chair and spoke about the duties of the position.
The next board meeting will be Monday, July 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Joann’s at Ontario Mills. All are welcome to attend.
For general meetings, the guild has use of the room until 5:00, so there is no real rush to end the meeting at 4:00. IEMQG qualifies as a 501 (c) (3) through our affiliation with MQG, and we can issue receipts for donations that are tax deductible.
The next challenge, “Go Big,” will be due at the September meeting.
Committees:
Charity: Rachel McGee has a top and back that need assembly. She took 12 pillowcases to Disabled Vets in June.
Block Lotto: Twenty-nine blocks were turned in. Cindy Chrisler won the drawing. The next block will be “Umbrella Party” using bright moderns on a gray background. Seams should be pressed open to reduce bulk. These blocks will be due in August.
Challenge: There were 18 quilts displayed from the challenge “Word.” Rachel Rogers led a discussion of each entry. Members who would like to participate may hang their quilts at the museum at La Sierra College in Corona.
After the refreshment break, Lisa Holmes presented the Spotlight quilter, Angela Walters. She had four speaker-themed door prizes, which were won by Debi Gardner, Aimee French, Gayle Bennett, and Sharon Bergh. Aimee French gave a presentation at this month’s Transitioning Quilter.
Show and Share followed, and the last item on the agenda was the drawing for the raffle of fat quarters.
The meeting adjourned at 4:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Cindy Chrisler
