November Meeting…a message from Gayle

Location, location, location. Important in real estate and apparently in Quilt Guild meetings too! Please join us for the November 2, 2019 guild meeting as we present our Member University.  As the holiday season approaches, we realized that the neighborhood of Riverside Main Library would have additional events taking place that will make parking and traffic more of a challenge than ever.  We recently checked out the community room at the Casa Blanca branch of the Riverside library and we will be moving 4.6 miles down the 91 Fwy to that location for our November, December and January meetings.

The full name of the facility is the SSgt Salvador J Lara, Casa Blanca branch of the Riverside City Library.

The library is located at 2985 Madison St, Riverside. As you approach the library on Madison St, you’ll find a stop sign at the intersection of Madison St and Emerald Ave.  Turn left onto Emerald and then take the first driveway on the right into the parking area.  There is an ample parking lot on site and easy ground level access into the building.

We have an interactive set of four demonstrations planned for Member University this year. Simone Bradford will be offering paper piecing, Laura Greene will share an artistic approach learned at Asilomar, Christine Sharp will demonstrate the slice and dice method used in particular in her Pick Up Stix quilt and I’ll be offering a demonstration on mitered borders.  We’ll have a fun Show and Share this month too. Arrive early to socialize, we are open at 1:30 and the meeting will start a 2:00.

In November the guild will begin accepting membership renewals and new memberships for 2020.  Our dues remain $40 per year and include your individual membership to the National Modern Quilt Guild.  You’ll need to complete a 2020 Membership Form and the guild accepts cash, checks and PayPal using your Debit or Credit card.  A 2020 Membership Form is available via the link below this post if you’d like to print one up ahead of time, and of course we’ll have a supply at the meeting. The guild board of directors have planned some fabulous programs next year.  We will kick off January with Latifah Saafir and have two additional speakers scheduled for the months of June and October. As always there are volunteer opportunities if you’d like to be more involved in your guild.  Anything from selling raffle tickets on occasion to working with fundraising and other activities.

Come check out this location and our demonstrations this month.  Our December meeting/holiday party will take place at this location also.

Happy Quilting.
