Welcome to the Inland Empire chapter of the Modern Quilt Guild! Join us for a modern quilting adventure. All are welcome, whether you’re brand new to modern quilt-making, or whether you’ve been around the quilt block a few times.
We meet on the 1st Saturday of each month year-round from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. We meet both via Zoom and in person. Check out our UPCOMING EVENTS for each month’s meeting location. Once you are a member, you will receive Zoom links with meeting invitations.
What is a Modern Quilt?
“Modern quilts are primarily functional and inspired by modern design. Modern quilters work in different styles and define modern quilting in many ways, but several characteristics often appear which may help identify a modern quilt. These include, but are not limited to: the use of bold colors and prints, high contrast and graphic areas of solid color, improvisational piecing, minimalism, expansive negative space, and alternative grid work. ‘Modern traditionalism’ or the updating of classic quilt designs is also often seen in modern quilting.”
