Meeting Recap

February 2025

General Meeting: Below is an overview of the agenda for February’s meeting.

Guest Speaker: Ann Morton <www.annmortonaz.com>  will speak through Zoom about Toward 2050. Ann encouraged makers to create environmentally themed, folded textile panels in the style of “prayer flags”. The goal was to collect 2600 double sided flags, (5200 panels). The flags would define the pathway of an interactive labyrinth shown below in the rendering. An individual can step year-by-year, ever closer to 2050. This is humanity’s target to achieve net zero in CO2 emissions. Use Ann’s corrected website address shown above to explore her art and learn more about her Toward 2050 endeavor.

The flag installation (shown below) is open to public February 8, 2025 through May 2025.

Ann is looking for volunteers to help clean up and prepare the flags to sew into blanket for distribution to those in need. If you are interested in helping you can register online at https://www.toward2050az.com/be-a-part.html to add your name to the list to help with making the flags into blankets/quilts. Afterward the installation each flag will be re-purposed to create blankets that will then be donated to communities affected by the next climate related catastrophe(s).
