One of our top priorities for the IEMQG this year is creating items for our fundraising efforts. We will participate in two craft fair events later this year and really need our guild membership’s assistance in creating what we will sell! The revenue created through these craft fair sales will be what builds our events and programs for 2020.
Each month we have an item we will focus on making, the complete list is noted below. February is complete as we do not need any more coasters right now. All the other months listed we still need items made. In the event you are short on fabric to create items, let us know as we have some donated fabric available. Links are offered to take you to patterns/tutorials to create these items.
Completed items can be given to any Board member at our meetings. We appreciate your participation and are available should you have any questions! Happy sewing!

Ahhhh … Our yearly fundraiser is finally here this Saturday, October 6th from 10am-4pm at Mountain Shadows! If you volunteered to help with the event, be sure to arrive 10-15 minutes before your shift. Becky will be calling during the week to remind you about your scheduled work time. Bring your baked goods as early as possible, preferably cut and packaged to sell in individual servings. As mentioned,we will not have a formal meeting and encourage everyone to bring a friend of two to help promote the event!
Complimentary coffee will be provided with a purchase. Purchases may be made with cash, check, or debit/credit via PayPal. Remember to bring a friend who loves sewing items and homemade goods. Let’s make this fundraiser be totally awesome, since we need the $$$ for next year’s activities.
Special tables will be displayed for Block Lotto, Nominations, and Raffle. You may drop off your Block Lotto for November’s meeting or get the pattern. The Nominating Committee will have their slate posted, and you may add a nomination. Look forward to an email during October to vote via Survey Monkey by November 2nd. The position of Treasurer is open. We will have our monthly raffle for the fat quarter of the month. Tickets will be available at the raffle table.
Remember to bring: 1) money 2) baked goods 3) Block Lotto blocks 4) nominations 5) any last minute items to donate for people to purchase 6) your name tag 7) friends.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!
Just a friendly reminder that the Upcycling Event is right around the corner – Saturday, October 6th at Mountain Shadows! We’ve attached a flyer below for you to share with your friends and family. Feel free to print a copy and post at any community boards to help spread the word! We look forward to seeing everyone there.
As a reminder this is our ONLY fundraiser this year and the proceeds will help us provide wonderful programs for our guild next year. Please take time to see how you can help – we can use any surplus fabric (please mark yardage), supplies, tools, books, etc. In addition, we will have a bake sale during the event and selling any tasty goodies you’d like to bring in support of our fundraising efforts! Cookies, cake and brownies (please cut so they are ready to serve) or other tasty snack items.
We wanted to thank everyone that signed-up for a spot to help with our event. We are close, but could still use a couple extra folks to help with set-up at 9 a.m. and clean-up at 4 p.m.. In the event you’d be able to support us – email us here to sign up!
Also, as mentioned at our last general meeting, the MQG website is new and improved! As a result of the changes you’ll need to re-register again for access. The website can be found here and in the event you have any questions, please feel free to contact us for assistance. The MQG website is a wonderful resource for videos, tutorials, patterns and the latest networking tool ‘Circles’ which we’ve set-up for our guild. The help page has lots of useful information and can be found on their website at https://mqg.memberclicks.net/help
As many of you may remember, last year we ran a resale table throughout the year. While this was a successful project for our Guild, we wanted to do something a little different this year by not running the sale all year and also changing the name to Upcycling Event. The Upcycle Committee is excited to announce that instead of being a part of the August meeting, our event will now be the featured presentation at our August 4th meeting! Because we are expanding this event, we’ve decided to also move the location to the Mountain Shadows Community Center in Highland, CA. This location will provide more space and room to spread out. We are also hoping to invite guests to this event, both those living in the Mountain Shadows and we’re encouraging our members to bring guests as well!
Our collection timetable for donation of goods will begin in May at our meeting and continue through July. We’ve put a list together of items to donate for reference:
Fabric (please mark the quantity: fat quarter, 1/4 yard, 1/2 yard, 1 yard, etc.)
Or anything sewing/quilting related
If you’d rather make an item(s) to donate, we would appreciate any handmade items. Some that we thought of are:
Set of Coasters
Embellished Tea/Kitchen Towels
We are also setting up a “Baked Goods” table. Please bring in your favorite goodies! We look forward to seeing what tasty treats you bring.
We’re counting on this event to be one of the Guild’s major fundraising events this year and appreciate any and all donations that you can provide. Let’s make this one of the Guild’s most profitable fundraiser to date! In the event you have questions, please reach out to me at one of our upcoming Guild meetings or you can contact me here. Thanks in advance for your support and participation!
