November Meeting Recap

We had an absolutely fantastic Member University meeting in November and several important announcements that you don’t want to miss, so be sure to read all the way to the bottom for announcements, show and share and a retreat roundup.

At Member University, Patti Reyes taught reverse appliqué, Pat Klassen taught invisible machine appliqué, Christine Sharp taught pick-up sticks, and Barbara Mathews taught Collage. Online participants were treated to a tutorial on faced binding, and tips for entering quilt shows. Thank you to all of our talented members who taught us must-have quilting skills and made Member University a big success.

Thank you to all of our members who generously donated food to the pantry of the D’Andre Lampkin Foundation.

December Holiday Party

Our December 2nd Meeting is sure to be a don’t-miss event! We will celebrate the holidays with a gift exchange and games. Quilty prizes are guaranteed! If you would like to participate, please bring 3 fat quarters and a wrapped $10 gift to exchange.

We are trying to be good to the environment by limiting trash and plastic use, so please bring your own reusable dinnerware.

December is our Maximalism Challenge Reveal.

Gather your favorite fabrics and fill your quilt with your most loved prints and colors. Be bold, intricate, eclectic and ornate. Remember… More is more of what you love! Ruby Curvelets by Fiona Johnstone, is an excellent example of maximalism in modern quilting and it was Viewers’ Choice winner at QuiltCon 2023. ChallengeGuidelines:

  • little or no negative space
  • loud, vivid, bold colors
  • high contrast
  • many layers of interest
  • no side should be longer than 24″

2024 Officers are now being selected and we still have openings. Open positions include Social Media, and Vice President of Communications. Please join us! We have lots of fun!
