Important IEMQG News and a note from our 2018 President, Laura

Hey Modern Quilt Lovers,

Our quilts are on exhibit at the Ontario Museum of History and Art at 225 Euclid Ave, Ontario, CA 91762, so bring your friends and relatives for a visit. The museum is hosting a reception for our Pop Up Exhibit next Saturday, the 22nd from 1:30-3:30.  The exhibit will run until December 30th!

I am nostalgic and proud to leave two years as president of our IEMQG during a period of growth and stability. My favorite activity was the opener at each meeting that got people talking and debating. I’m also thrilled with the transition quilters, spotlight quilter presentations, paid speakers, member universities, quilt challenge evaluations, fat quarter raffles, name tag raffles, sale table, Upcycle Event, holiday parties, and Block Lottos at our meetings. The efforts to keep the meeting sites free have allowed us to spend wisely on other activities.

Our Show and Shares, demonstrations, speakers, sit n sews, and challenges have encouraged us to submit our quilts into several exhibits-La Sierra College, Klatch Coffee, Upland Library, and Ontario Museum of History and Art. We have also been fortunate to have Linda Rassmussen, a quilt judge, curate our modern challenges for free. Our speakers, Latifah Saafir, Sue Stone of Needle in a Fabric Stash, Natalie Barnes of Beyond the Reef, and Shawnee Miller with Superior Threads, have encouraged us to push our limits with modern vibes in our quilting. Our first retreat at a cute home in Fallbrook was fun and promoted our camaraderie. The friendships that I have developed are crucial to my happiness and outlook in the IEMQG. I look forward growing my relationship with each of you.

We’ve embraced modern ways in quilting, as well as, online voting, a current website, blogs, Facebook, and Instagram. I look forward to next year’s events-Linda Sullivan, Dora Cory, Chaffey Art Museum exhibit, and more.

Also, as a reminder, our annual membership renewal is taking place now!  You won’t want to miss all the wonderful events in 2019 as well as access to the Modern Quilt Guild’s website with lots of videos and helpful information.  More information can be found here including the form that can be printed out and handed in at our next meeting.  Payment can be made by cash, check or charge (via PayPal).

Wishing you all a wonderful 2019!
Laura
