  • February 16th – 20th – QuiltCon, Phoenix AZ. Meet us every morning at 8:45 by our Community Quilt. Meet and Eat on Saturday at 1 pm same spot.
  • February 14th and 28th – Drop in Sew with us 7 pm to 9 pm.
  • March 5th – General Meeting Presentation by Stephanie Hackney of Hobbs Batting.

Reminders

Roundabout Challenge due July 2nd

Its not to early to get started! This challenge is all about sewing curves, but don’t worry if curves aren’t in your toolbox. We’ll share tips and tricks on April 2nd. Rules: use at least 3 solid colors, and make a quilt with curves of any type with sides that measure anywhere between 24 and 80 inches.

Collage Workshop on May 7th

You will need to bring your own pattern/project and supplies for this workshop. Or explore your inner artist and create your own design. Barbara Mathews will provide instruction and help guide us through. A few supplies will also be made available for purchase.

Retreat Registration begins in March!

Our 2022 Retreat is scheduled for November 7th – 10th at Vina De Lestonnac retreat center in Temecula. The cost to reserve your seat is $100. The total cost is $410. Room mates required.

February Speaker

Brenda Gael Smith, Serendipity Patchwork & Quilting

Our general meeting guest speaker, Brenda Gael Smith, delivered an inspirational program, “Driven to Abstraction,” beginning with her brief bio with photos beginning with her childhood in Australia, through her study of law at Washington State University. She took us on a tour of her studio, showed photos of her first quilt, made from seersucker, and the baby quilts that redirected her career from Law to quilting. She shared how nature inspires her modern geometric and linear quilt designs.

In her workshop on Sunday, Brenda guided us through several ways to make improvisational triangles, squares, rectangles, and hexies. She also taught us clever ways to join improve piecing and shared her inspiration and techniques for many of her curated quilts.
